An organiser of last Thursday's protests in Canberra says Prime Minister Julia Gillard was not of concern to the protesters and was never in danger of being physically harmed.
Michael Anderson, the last surviving co-founder of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy, says the protesters only wanted Tony Abbott to clarify his comment with regards to the Embassy. Mr. Anderson says Mr. Abbott's comment to 'move on' with the Tent Embassy was highly provocative. "Nobody was threatening the Prime Minister. "If there was anyone under threat, it was Tony Abbott. Nobody worried about the Prime Minister, nobody was asking her. They wanted Tony Abbott to explain himself and what he meant by, 'it's time for the Embassy to more on.' "If you've come to a place 200 metres away after you say that, where the people are celebrating 40 years of its existence and talking about the ways forward in the future, then that was highly provocative on his part." |
