The Australian Greens say the Federal and West Australian governments should give up on the gas hub proposed for the Kimberley region.
The Chief Justice in WA has ruled that the State Government's attempt to use compulsory acquisition legislation for the land at James Price Point, north of Broome, was invalid. Premier Colin Barnett says the ruling was based on a technicality which can be easily overcome and the project is not in doubt. But Greens Senator Rachel Siewert says many traditional owners approved the gas hub because they felt pressured by the threat of compulsory acquisition. |
