Dr_Thalia_Anthony_2Law academic: Palm Island policing dysfunctional since settlement

Dr Thalia Anthony will deliver the lecture called From Paradise to Prison: Palm Island Under the Spotlight, on Thursday night, August 27.

Dr Anthony's lecture looks at the history and tension of policing on Palm Island and how it led to the death of Mulrunji.

She aims to raise awareness that bad policing practises on the island date back to colonialism.

Dr Anthony says the myth that is portrayed following Mulrunji's death - that the Indigenous community is dysfunctional - is a misrepresentation.
