What is Twitter?

Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

People post short updates of less than 140 characters - called Tweets - which people can subscribe to, so they can keep up to date with what's happening in the lives and businesses of other people.

So, why does NIRS use Twitter?

NIRS does not intend to use Twitter in the usual, "social" capacity, in that we will not be updating users throughout the day with our daily activities.

Instead, NIRS uses Twitter to update our listeners, colleagues, and affiliated radio stations with news and information.

In particular, NIRS will be using Twitter to update people when our Weekly News Reviews, and our Weekly Broadcast Schedules are uploaded to our website, so they can download and use that information as it becomes available.
