The peak Aboriginal community health group, NACCHO, says it's still too early to see if Closing the Gap targets on life expectancy are working or not.

NACCHO boss Justin Mohamed says turning around high smoking rates, poor diets and a lack of exercise may take decades.
Mr. Mohamed wants a long-term commitment from governments, not just three or four year funding investments.
