Dumbartung calls suicide prevention summitPosted on April 30, 2013
The Director of the Dumbartung Aboriginal Corporation in Perth says a 'crisis summit' in May will aim to address 'epidemic' levels of Indigenous suicide.
Robert Eggington says the community-run summit will produce a list of recommendations to be presented to key West Australian ministers.
Mr. Eggington says it's concerning Aboriginal-controlled organisations working to address the problem are under-funded and he'll call for a mental health taskforce.
He says he hopes the other communities will take similar action.
The summit will be held on the 21st of May in Perth.
