The head of a Broome Indigenous corporation in Western Australia's Kimberley says she's looking forward to the community working with developers for an alternative to an abandoned gas hub project.
Resource company Woodside has announced it's shelving plans for its 45 billion dollar Browse LNG project at James Price Point, north of Broome.
Culture researcher Anne Poelina, from Madjulla Inc, says she believes pressure from some traditional owners and environmentalists against the project led to Woodside's decision.
Dr. Poelina says the original gas hub design wouldn't have been beneficial for Broome.
